This Privacy Notice sets out the basis on which we will process the personally identifying information (‘Personal Data’) that we collect and receive from and about users of this website www.imogenpowellcounsellingservices.co.uk (“the Site”).

My privacy commitments

We will only collect, keep, use and share Personal Data for legitimate business purposes that I explain here below, or if I'm legally required to do so. I will be as clear and open as I can with you on what Personal Data we collect and how it will be processed. For as long as we maintain records of your Personal Data, we will keep it up to date and protect it with appropriate safety measures.

VISITORS Data Collection

We collect the following Personal data from or about you:

Personal Data collected directly from you through the contact process: your name, phone number and email address.

Our legal basis for the collection and processing of this data is the provision to you of making an enquiry. Personal Data Collected Automatically from the use by you of the site. The data transmitted from your browser includes your IP address, the date and time of the visit the pages accessed, the access status/HTTP status code, your browser, your operating system and interface, as well as the language and version of the browser software. The legal basis for collecting and processing this personal data is to be able to operate the site and provide you with access to the pages you wish to access.

Data Uses

We use your Personal Data:

For the administration of your bookings and to contact you about your booking.
To contact you about subsequent counselling sessions.

Cookies

Simply reading this website sets no cookies at all. The only page that does is the Contact page: because it has a form, it sets one small text file (a “cookie”) in your browser, called imogen_powell_counselling_services_session. It keeps the form secure and lets the site show you a “thank you” or an error message once you have sent your message. It contains no personal information, is not used to track you, and is deleted automatically after 2 hours. If you block it, the rest of the site works normally, but the contact form may not.

We do not use any advertising, marketing or tracking cookies, and our analytics (see below) is completely cookie-free. Because the one cookie is strictly necessary for the contact form, there is no cookie banner: there is nothing to accept or refuse. You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings at any time.

Analytics — why we use Fathom (and not Google Analytics)

This site deliberately does not use Google Analytics. Instead we use Fathom Analytics, a privacy-first analytics service — a choice we made because your privacy, particularly when visiting a counselling website, matters to us. Fathom does not use cookies, does not collect or store any personal or identifiable information, and cannot follow you from this site to other websites. It provides us only with anonymous, aggregated statistics (such as which pages are visited, which buttons and menu links are used, and roughly where in the world visitors come from) so that we can understand how the site is used and improve it. Because Fathom never identifies you, there is nothing to opt out of — your visit here simply stays private.

Fonts

The typefaces on this website are provided by Adobe Fonts. When a page loads, your browser therefore asks Adobe’s servers for the fonts, which means Adobe receives your IP address and the fact that a page using its fonts was viewed — as any server does when your browser asks it for something. Adobe Fonts does not set cookies through this website, and we do not receive any information about you from it. See Adobe’s privacy policy for how it handles that information.

Data Sharing

We will not sell your information. We will not share your information with any third party except as stated in this Privacy Notice or as required to operate the site, provide our services to you and administer your account.

WEBSITE VISITORS Data Collection

If you visit our site we receive anonymous, aggregated visitor statistics through Fathom Analytics: the pages visited, which buttons and links are clicked, site referrals, browser and device type, and the country the visit came from. None of this information identifies you personally. In addition, the data transmitted automatically from your browser to our web server includes your IP address, the date and time of the visit, the pages accessed, the access status/HTTP status code, your browser, your operating system and interface, as well as the language and version of the browser software. The legal basis for collecting and processing this data is our legitimate interest in operating the site securely and providing you with access to the pages you wish to access.

Data Uses

We use these anonymous statistics only to understand how the site is used and to improve its content — for example by seeing which pages, buttons and links visitors find most helpful. We do not profile you, we do not create or send marketing messages, and we do not re-target visitors with advertising.

We maintain technical and physical safeguards that are designed to protect the security and integrity of your Personal Data, and to guard it against accidental or unauthorised access, use, alteration or disclosure to unauthorised third parties. These measures include device encryption, firewalls and virus checking procedures. Where we keep Personal Data files on local devices these devices are protected and accessible only to authorised employees.

We regularly review our security systems to ensure that your Personal Data remains safe and secure.

We will maintain records of your Personal Data for as long as you remain:
